Stellar Designs is a lighting design studio based in Ahmedabad, working with the conviction that light plays a decisive role in every location, whether urban districts, modern architecture or interior space. It adds a touch of creativity to individual imagination.

What lighting design services does Stellar Designs offer?
Six: lighting design consultancy, lighting calculations and simulation, technical documentation, lighting controls and automation, site supervision and commissioning, and lighting audits and design review. The studio designs and specifies light for buildings across India and does not sell fittings.
What does an architectural lighting designer do?
A lighting designer designs the light, not the fitting. We decide what every surface in a space should receive: how much light, from which direction, at what colour temperature, and how that changes across the day. Then we document it precisely enough for an electrical contractor to build. At Stellar Designs that runs from the first site survey through photometric calculation to standing on site for the final focusing.
At what stage should a lighting designer join the project?
As early as the architecture allows. Coves, reveals, recesses, ceiling depths and conduit routes are all decisions that become expensive to change once the ceiling is closed. We are usually brought in at concept stage alongside the architect and interior designer, and we also join projects already under execution where the scheme has to work around what is built.
Do you supply the light fittings?
No. We specify. You receive a luminaire schedule with mounting, optics, control gear and quantities that any supplier can quote against. Keeping specification separate from supply is what lets us choose the right fitting for the space rather than the one we happen to stock.
Do you work outside Gujarat?
Yes. The studio is based in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, and has delivered projects in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya.
What types of project does Stellar Designs take on?
Six typologies: residential and interior, commercial and workplace, hospitality, temples and heritage, urban and landscape, and light art and show lighting. The work runs from a single vaulted hall to hotels, temples and public walkways.
